Descendant of Ralph Redhead, born Hunstanworth 1830, son of Edward Redhead, schoolmaster, and Mary nee Wood, can anyone help?

I see a match for your Ralph in the 1851 census... His last name is spelled READHEAD and he's a tailor, living with his widowed father Edward, 55, a schoolmaster, and sister Ann, 26, at Market Place in Corbridge [HO107/2414 Folio 299 Page 9].

And the 1861 census: Ralph READHEAD, a tailor, with wife Jane and children Matthew, Mary, Mark and Isabella, on Prince Street in Corbridge [RG9/3858 Folio 52 Page 12].

If you don't already have the full census details for 1851, 1861 and 1871, I can supply them.

FYI... in the 1841 census, Ralph is listed with Edward READHEAD, a schoolmaster, 40 years old, Tabitha 65 [both ages will be given as rounded figures], Ralph, 11 and Elizabeth, 15. They are living in Middleton in Teasdale, Durham [HO107/306/1 Folio 15 Page 2].

FreeBMD has a death record for a Tabitha READHEAD in the 2nd quarter of 1848 in Teesdale, Durham [Volume 24 Page 245]. There are also a death record for an Edward READHEAD in the 4th quarter of 1852 in Morpeth [Volume 10b Page 74 or 174].

Perhaps Tabitha was Edward's mother.

Many thanks, Trish. I have the census details 1851,61 and 71. Mary Redhead/Readhead (spelling has alternated through the years) was my great grandmother. I found out about Tabitha at Corbridge Information Centre and believe her to be Edward's mother. I did not know they were in Middleton in Teesdale neither did I know of Elizabeth, but it is a family name, so I am grateful for the information.
