Hi,
My Gt Grandfather (Jesse Woodman) was a Guard at the POW camp on St Helena. I have a nice regimental bible inscribed with his regiment, name, and no.
He does not appear on the 1901 census, would there be entries on the census for men away at war?

Cheers,
Sue

Hi Sue,

According to the page at this link:

http://freespace.virgin.net/anglers.rest/BWInfo.htm

soldiers who were serving in South Africa at the time of the 1901 census were not included.

Is there anyone who can help me to find the birthplace of: Henry John Fallows born in the U.K. 1880 who served in the S.A.C. and remained in South Africa where he died in 1943.
He was married to Evelyn Madeley !885 U.K.)
Is there a list of members of the S.A.C. Up till now I cannot find anything.
Dami
