I have just received from the GRO the death certificate of an ancestor (Andrew BREWIS age 77) who died on 26 Oct 1875. The cause of death is given as "Injuries to the throat by a razor"!
There was an inquest by the Newcastle-upon-Tyne coroner on 27th October 1875. I have been informed by the Tyne & Wear Archive Service that Coroner's Reports from that time do not seem to have survived. The TWAS suggest contacting the Local Studies section of the Newcastle Central Library to see if they have any newspaper reports from that time.
Does anybody know the names of local newspapers from that time?
As I live in Belgium, is there a member of these forums who can help find a newspaper report of this death?
