I am undertaking a one-name study for the surname HAWKE wherever it occurs and would be very pleased to hear from others interested in this name to share information. I have a fair collection of the HAWKE family from Cornworthy near Totnes Devon, from about 1780 then they moved to Plymouth about 1910.

I have Hawks in my family tree.
Robert Hawke, born c. 1863, North Hill, Cornwall married Alice Maud (Shaw) Jenkins c. Dec. 1902. Alice's maiden name was Shaw, she was a widow Jenkins when married to Robert Hawke.
Robert's parents were John Hawke and Jane Martin; his siblings were:
Emma Martin Hawe c. 1860 Lewannick, Cornwall (she married John Bailey Sweet); and Ann Hawe c. 1867 (no additional information).
Robert & Alice had five (I believe) children: Nora was one of them.
Any additional information on this family would be greatly appreciated, especially the children of Robert & Alice.

Dear Jenny,
I am currently researching my family in Leicester. My great grandfather claimed that his roots were in Devon, but as yet I cannot prove it. As far as I have traced things at present, my 'Hawkes' (James and his wife Sarah Eames) came to Leicester from Buckinghamshire in the 1820s or 1830s. I can then trace back to the early 1700s with the christening of James HAWKS (but also HAWKE) at Gt Missenden in 1720; his father was Thomas HAWKES (but also HAWKE), married to Elizabeth JUDGE at Gt Missenden in 1711. Where Thomas came from, I do not know.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated,

In 1681, A John Hawke in Maryland, left property in his will to a John Hillary of York. Any ideas who either were?

Hi Jenny, I have an Annie HAWKE born 3 April 1902 in Camelford Registration Office the daughter of William John HAWKE a carpenter.

Annie married my great-uncle William Samuel James GLOVER at the Registrar's Office, Camelford in 1921.

Annie died in Bodmin Registration District in 1996.

I would be pleased to hear from anyone who has information on Annie and her family

Hello.. From Viareggio Italy. My paternal grandfather ..F.W.B. Saunders married an Edith Hawke from South Brent. Devon… F.W.B.Saunders had served his apprenticeship at The shipyard of Phillips of Dartmouth in the early 1900’s They then moved to Sherborne in Dorset where he started a car garage business in 1908. …I would guess that his wife Edith would have been borne about 1880. I hope that is useful.
