Recently, I read an article in a Family History Magazine on the use of Census’s and Certificates that was quite interesting. However, I felt that they had missed out one VITAL step. Before you go anywhere near the pay 1837 site or Free BMD, or buy B.M.D. Certificates, it is essential, from any other information that you may already have, to try and ascertain the most likely Registration District that the Birth, Marriage or Death took place in.

Yes, this is the site that I use myself. I had included that information in my post, but for reasons unknown only half my post ended up being quoted.
It would be very useful to have access on-line to maps of the Registration Districts. Do they exist?

At our local LDS in Oshawa, Ontario they have the 3 maps for the registration districts as they changed the numbers ie Notts. area was xv then went to 7b then 3c and finally 8. I have often wondered why those maps are not printed out and put on a website unless its publishing rights!!!
