Brett - Thanks so much for the information on Coton-in-the-Elms. I am also related to the family (William Smith & Charlotte) John Watts mentioned in his posting in 2005.

William Smith (Baptism: 17 Apr 1808 Coton-in-the-Elms & d. 16 Dec 1877 Coton in the Elms) who married Charolotte (Fletcher ?), had a brother Lewis, whom I am descended from:

1) Lewis Smith (b. 23 Feb. 1817 Coton-in-the-Elms & d. 29 Jan 1853 Allesley, Cause of death: typhoid fever).
Spouse: Mary Ann Price (baptism 5 Apr 1818 Stafford, Barton Under Needwood & d. 1891 Allesley.

2) Son: Lewis William Smith (b. 5 Dec. 1846 Allesley & d. 29 Jan. 29 Jan 1899 Canada, Ontario, Ottawa)
Spouse: Teresa Smith (Smith was her maiden name as well, b. 25 Aug 1853 Warwick, possibly Aston & d. 29 Jan 1899 Canada, Ontario, Ottawa) m. 20 Oct. 1879 Birmingham
Note: Lewis Wm. & Teresa emigrated to Canada in 1881 with 9 mo. old son Thomas Ambrose Smith

3) Son: Lewis William Smith, my grandfather (b. 4 Sep 1882 Canada, Ontario, Ottawa & d. 26 Oct 1951 Canada, Ontario, Ottawa)
Spouse: Margaret Ellen O'Meara (b. 4 Aug 1889 Ottawa, d. 2 Jul 1980) m. 14 Oct 1908 Ottawa

I also have some information on William & Lewis' parents (John (Publican mentioned in Pigot Directory) & Elizabeth) and all their siblings of which I am still researching. One of their sons, John (Baptized 5 Dec 1913, Coton-in-the-Elms) emigrated to Australia in 1854 with his wife Alice (nee Haywood), their 4 children, Alice's sister Ann & her husband John Spruce.

Thanks again
Regards
Marilyn (Smith) Dwyer
