My 2xG Grandfather served with the 6th Foot he joined c1867 and served 20 yrs
I know he was stationed in India c1877-1885 (at least 2 children were born there) how do I go about finding out more info?

Birth of his children will be recorded in either the Regimental Registers of Births 1761-1924, or Army Chaplains' Returns of Births 1796-1880. The indexes are online at 1837online - a pay-per-view site (they are under Overseas records on this site). When you find an entry of interest, you can order a copy of the certificate from the GRO.
