Hi just checked the gravestone inscriptions at Earley St Peters churchyard and Earley Mays Lane burial ground I was involved in with the Berkshire FHS. There are no Shields listed - doesn't mean they aren't there.

Remember Earley was one of the liberties of Sonning St Andew before St Peter's was built in 1844. Don't overlook the records of the London Road Cemetery - started in 1843 and became part of the parish of Earley - I think.

thanks ever so much for looking for me and the helpful information.
I didnt know anything at all about Earley - so its a great help.
Most of the Shields upto this particular man were born in Limpsfield, but because I have just found out the WILLIAM SHIELD was born between 1801/1806 in Earley - I thought Id ask about this area to see if any of his relatives came from there too.
Thanks ever so much
all the best
