Hi,
According to the 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses my Great x 2 Grandfather George Harris was born in Coventry in 1850/1851. He then married a Jane (maiden name unknown) in Walsall and moved to Barrow in Furness, Lancs where his children were born and where i found him on the census.
Could some kind person help me get back a further generation by doing me a look up on the 1861/1871 census for Coventry to find out who his parents and siblings were. I am struggling to do this at the moment.
Many thanks for any help given.

Do you have any other information? His job or childrens names? On 1891 I found a George married to Jane in Barrow in Furness a shipyard labourer. But his age is 69 so the birth date 1850/51 wouldn't fit in.

Hi Jo,
I have George Harris married to a Jane Harris on the 1881 census and on the 1901 census and he was aged 30 in 1881 and 50 in 1901 which would make him born in 1850 or 1851. I have plenty of information on his children but it is his parents and siblings that i am trying to trace. This is my mum's family who i have always believed came from Barrow but the census information tells me Coventry and Jane came from Walsall. Their eldest child Hetty was born in Walsall but the other children , George, Ann and Daniel were born in Barrow.
Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
Julie

Hi Jo,
yes this is the right family. I have all this information although not printed off as i got the 1891 info off the Ancestry site and the 1901 off the 1901 site. I am intrigued that they say they come from Stoke on the 1891 census and then Jane changes her name to Eugene in 1901 and says she was born in Leicester. Henrietta's middle name is Eugenia and George (son of George) had a daughter called Eugenia ( we called her Aunty Jen and for years i thought her name was Jennifer !)
By the way Henrietta married Arthur Quinney not Minney.
