Hi, I am told that my Grandfather was awarded the DFM in the first world war. I know very little about him - Edwin Charles Carpenter born March 1890 in Kings Lynn, Norfolk. I believe he was in the Fleet Air Arm, I know he was invalided out towards the end of the war and went to recuperate in Royston, Herts where he met my Grandmother. I am also told that my Grandmother sold the medal. Can anyone help me with where I can find information.

Hi Chris

Try searching the London Gazette's online records at http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/archiveSearch.asp?webType=0

It can be a bit flakey at times so try a few variants on the spelling of the surname

Hi Paul,

Thanks for that, have tried a few combinations - so far no good.
Do you know of any other listings I could try?

Regards
Chris
