Is it possible to find out why the above medal was awarded to a Gunner who served in France between August 1940 and December 1945.The medal has a bronze? star on the ribbon, but I do not know if it was an individual or a Unit award. The recipient was (the late) Gunner Francis Verdun Burt 2041088 and the award gazetted "en bloc" 1.3.1949. I rashly offered to help an elderly relative of his to find out the reason for the award but I am getting nowhere fast - any assistance very much appreciated please.
