Missing relative in Birkenhead

I am researching my wives family tree,and trying to locate the following person,i have not got much to go on.

He was called John Jones and we think he lived in Euston Grove. Oxton. about 1941-1944,he may have worked as a chauffeur in a large house or estate in or around Birkenhead ,can anyone help at all as it is not much to go on.

In the 1940 Gore's Trade Directory, there is only Mrs Jones at no. 8 Euston Grove, Birkenhead. The library is shut today, so I only have access to that edition.
