Looking for the birth and parentage of a Francis Beechey (+ variants) who settled in Bourton on the Hill, GLS after his marriage.

The Beechey surname seems to originate in the Burford area of Oxon., but I cannot find any Francis Beechey on IGI, so would appreciate any 'pointers'.

Don't forget that in this period, there were outliers of other counties very close to Burford. Just to the east, Widford was in Gloucestershire - whilst to the south, Shilton was in Berkshire.

As well as the IGI, have you tried the original registers? The OFHS sell transcripts which are good research aids.

I am well used to the 'outliers' problem with the detached 'bits' of Worcs and Gloucs. adjacent to and within Warwicks! Oxfordshire and points south are relatively new territory for me, so I am not familiar with Burford area. I expect to make a visit to the relevant CROs over the coming few months.

Thanks for the info anyway.
