Hi listers
Would someone be so kind as to look up the family of John and Emma Anne Davis in Lincombe and Widcombe, Somerset please? John was b. abt 1829
in Gloucestershire and Emma in the Swainswick/Woolley area of Somerset.
Any help would be fantastic!
Hi Dean,
From the 1871 census, living at: 5 Brunswick Place, Lyncombe and Widcombe:
John Davis, 42, Head, Maltster, b. Doynton, Gloustershire
Emma A Davis, Wife, 40, b. Swainswick, Somerset
John S. Davis, son. Unmarried, 17, Labourer in Brewery Malthouse, b. Warley, Somerset
Samuel Davis, son, 10, Labourer in Brewery Malthouse, b. Swainswick, Somerset
Sarah Davis, daught., 7, b. Bath, Somerset
Cyrus Davis, son, 4, b. Bath, Somerset
Emma A. Davis, daught., 1, b. Bath, Somerset
Mary Taylor, lodger, 52, Unm., Needlework, b. Bath, Somerset (deaf)
I'm not totally certain about Samuel's occupation. The word scholar was written in and then crossed out, and I think there are ditto marks instead, referring to John s's occupation in the line above.
Hope this is the right family.

Thanks so much for taking the time to look them up Pam. It seems there are no shortage of Malsters in my family (Emma born a Garraway).
You're very welcome.
Maltsters provide an essential service!
