Missing fathers name on mar. cert.

I just received the marriage certificate of my GGGGGranfather. I couldnt wait to find out his fathers name. Well, wouldnt you know it, theres nothing there. Any idea why? I can think of a few, just want to see what other people thought.

On a side note, can anyone make out the profession of the brides father?

What appears on a marriage certificate is whatever was stated at the time.
The most likely explanation is that he's illegitimate, and mother didn't let on who father was, but it is also possible that he didn't know for other reasons. If, for example, his father had died when he was very young, and he'd either left home himself without ever asking, or his mother had died while he was young too and he was brought up by somebody else, that might also be an explanation.

A husbandman is a man who tills and cultivates the soil, ie a farmer.

"Husbandman" also implied class, rank or status. He would almost certainly be a tenant farmer but below the status of yeoman. The term was virtually moribund in the 19th century when it was becoming more usual to simply say "farmer".
