I believe that pre-1858 Nottinghamshire wills were originally at the Borthwick Institute but were handed over to Notts Archives.
I've had plenty of wills from Notts Archives and pretty good service it is too. But there are a couple that I want that for some reason Notts Archives can't provide.
It occurred to me that it might be worth approaching the Borthwick Institute in the hope that they could provide copies. Unfortunately they seem to be an unhelpful bunch who won't even answer a question unless you lay money down first!
Has anyone any experience of getting Nottinghamshire wills from the Borthwick Institute? Is it actually worth giving them money in the hope they might be able to help?
