Now for another conundrum! On 1901 census-Noah's Ark, Ryeford, Stonehouse , Glos is Ada Cave b c 1879 Swindon:Enoch cave b c 1891 Moreden,Swindon: George F cave b c 1876 Selsey, Glos. If this is correct the parents would only have been 13 and 15 at Enoch's birth!. Cannot trace their marriage or Enoch's birth in both Glouscestershire or Wiltshire on FreeBMD or 1837 online or find them on 1891 census. I did go through actual census images for Marden, Wilts in case mis-transcription but not had time to go through Swindon itself. Any help would be greatly received. Margaret

...the parents would only have been 13 and 15 at Enoch's birth!. ...Margaret, I see the problem... the image itself shows Enoch as only 10 months old, not 10 years as transcribed. Here's a literal transcription:

Noahs Ark

RG13/2434 Folio 13 Page 18

George F CAVE Head M 25 Circular Timber Sawyer [born] Glos Selsley

...Cannot trace their marriage or Enoch's birth in both Glouscestershire or Wiltshire on FreeBMD or 1837 online or find them on 1891 census...How about the following record?

Name: Cave, Enoch Edward
Record Type: Birth
Quarter: September
Year: 1900
District: Swindon
County: Wiltshire
Volume: 5a
Page: 2

And a possible marriage:

Name: Cave, George Francis
Record Type: Marriages
Quarter: June
Year: 1898
District: Highworth
County: Wiltshire
Volume: 5a
Page: 56

Of the two possible brides listed, one is Ada FILOR.

Margaret, do you have access to the 1891 census?

There is a 12 year old Ada FILOR listed -- living in Swindon with her parents, Frederick, a "General Laborer," and Ellen M. and 7 siblings at 5 Linslade [...not sure of this word] Street.

Reference is RG12/1586 Folio 16 Page 25.

Margaret,

At a glance, I don't see George CAVE on the 1891 census but a George Francis CAVE is on the 1881 census -- do you have him? He's 5 years old and with his family in Kingstanley, Gloucestershire. Reference is RG11/2547 Folio 79 Page 32.

...looking again in 1891...

Aha! I think I've just found them:

1891 Census

Thanks trish-brilliant!. It comes back to what was said other days transcription is a difficult business. Yesterday I finally found death of my grandfather's cousin as surname had been transcribed wrongly-Laidlow instead of Laidlaw. Same entry on Cheshire BMD also threw up another cousin also mis-transcribed. I do have 1891 census but find it hard to navigate using Ancestry. Thanks for all your trouble I can now join some families together.Margaret
