Could anyone take a look at this census trying to work out where George Edington was born in Scotland

This is the reference number for the 1891 Census
Piece 4225 Folio 81 Page 32.

Looks like Kingstone. There is a Kingston in East Lothian, just below North Berwick.

George was born before registration of BMD started (1837 in England & Wales, about 1855 inScotland), so you can't get a birth certificate for him. Look for his marriage on the complete GRO index, either at a library or online at sites such as https://www.familyrelatives.org/treequest/jsp/customer/index.jsp or www.1837online.org.uk (http://www.1837online.org.uk) Then you can order the marriage certificate online through the government site http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificate/
The birth certificates of any children will give Janes maiden name.

Think I may have found George's family in the 1841 census. In 1871 his brother Robert 47 is living with George & Jane. Search on Robert on the freecen site http://freecen.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl & it comes up with a family at Athelstaneford, which is not far from Kingston.

Would Robert not have been only 19. I suppose his age could have been wrong on the 1871 census.
I found George in 1841 on the site that you posted he is living with a family called Bathgates as Ag Lab 15
Robert with the Edingtons live next door to a Bathgate family (COINCIDENCE)

Thanks for putting me in the right direction as this was my first visit to this site. Sorry I didnt reply last night as we had a power cut while I was busy surfing.

Hi Brian
Don't take ages in the census to seriously. I have one chap over 5 censuses who gives a different date of birth every time - 1820, 1816, 1821, 1819, 1818.|shakehead
In 1841 George is at Yester, which is about 10 miles south of Athelstaneford.

Strangely enough, I did the same thing when I hit 40 (1963, then 1964, then 1965, etc)!;)
