Hi Robert, welcome to the forum. :)

I have Naish in my tree but they appear to come from Hampshire/Berkshire border. If you come across any from that area, let me know and we can compare notes.

Hi Glenys

Thanks so much for your reply.
One of my Naish family was born in Romsey Hampshire, he was Thomas born 1823 son of James & Charity, l also believe that they baptised another child George in the Hampshire area but l have been unable to locate it??.

Best Wishes,

Robert

Hi Robert,

I've been through `my lot' but can't find a reference to a James & Charity, or Thomas born 1823. I do have a George, but he was born in 1823 Beech Hill, Berks/Hants and was the brother of my Joseph born 1833. and father was John.

Unless your James was a brother of my direct line (which I don't have) it doesn't look as if we connect anywhere. I start with John b. 1720 who had 9 children, John b. 1741, and John b. 1789 who is the father of my Joseph. No trace of any James though. Sorry, it would have been nice to link up somewhere wouldn't it?

Just a tip, (which you may already have discovered) but also look for NASH when you are searching as my gt. grandfather is shown as Nash on two Censuses.

Good luck. :)

Hello Robert,

I also have NAISH in my family tree. At the moment I only have them in New Zealand and haven't managed to trace them back. Two different family traditions have them coming from Ireland or from the South West of England. If you have any that head off to NZ or to Australia before 1865 I'd be very interested in comparing notes.

Mary.

hi Glenys,

It does not look as if our lot match up? my James was born Fisherton Delemere in 1782 and dies in 1868, his parents were John & Elizabeth nee Penny.

Best Wishes,

Robert

I think you are right Robert...never mind, it's always worth mentioning, as one never knows. ;) Good luck.

I have Naish in my husbands family but (so far) just as a forename. I am stuck at the moment with the ROGERS in Calstone Wellington in the early eighteenth century. Richard & Hannah Rogers had two sons, Naish (1754-1825) and Richman (1768-1806).

Does the Rogers name occur in your family?

Hi Pauline,

I don't see an obvious connection, all my lot were from the Wylye valley area of Wilts only leaving there in the late 1870's for London.

If l come across any connection l will of course let you know.

Good Luck

Robert
