I am trying to find the birth registration of Jane Holland b 1844 Crowland Lincs. I think her parents were John Holland and Elizabeth who appear in the 1841, 51 and '61 census. Her brother Henry was born in 1840. I would also like to find the marriage of John and Elizabeth but have had no luck so far. It may be before 1837 and before 1840. Thanks to anyone who can help.

I did find a death for a John Holland in Peterborough (which is where Crowland is located) for Jun qtr 1879 (vol 3b pg 162). He was 65 years old. Would this be he?

In 1851, John's mother-in-law was living with them, so Elizabeth's maiden name would likely have been Andrew. This might help someone in finding the marriage...

In 1851, there is a Jane Holland visiting with her cousin in Glinton, Northamptonshire:

James Bains abt 1827 Glinton, Northamptonshire, England Head Glinton Northamptonshire
Mary Bains abt 1829 Craylands, Lincolnshire, England Wife Glinton Northamptonshire
Jane Holland abt 1845 Craylands, Lincolnshire, England Cousin Glinton Northamptonshire

Glinton was also part of Peterborough, which spread across Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, and Huntingtonshire. If this is she, it would explain why she is not at home with her family...

In 1861, Jane appears to be a servant in the home of Thomas and Elizabeth Barber in West Deeping, Lincolnshire:

Thomas Barber abt 1810 West Deeping, Lincolnshire, England Head West Deeping Lincolnshire
Henry Chambers abt 1843 Barholm, Lincolnshire, England Apprentice West Deeping Lincolnshire
William Christian abt 1839 West Deeping, Lincolnshire, England Nephew West Deeping Lincolnshire
Jane Holland abt 1844 Crowland, Lincolnshire, England Servant West Deeping Lincolnshire
Thomas Perkins abt 1841 Market Deeping, Lincolnshire, England Apprentice West Deeping Lincolnshire

There is a marriage between James Bains and (possibly) Mary Ann Andrew in Peterborough in Sept qtr 1848 (vol 15 pg 465). Mary Ann may have been Jane's mother's brother's daughter (making her Jane's cousin), lending support to the 1851 census record... although, given Mary Ann's age, her father would probably have been a fair bit older than Elizabeth...

Regarding the birth of Jane Holland:
FreeReg (http://www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/Search.pl) has her Baptism on December 17th, 1844 at Sts Mary Bartholomew and Guthlac, Crowland. Her parents were John (a labourer) and Elizabeth Holland. I did find a Jane Holland birth registration in December 1849 in Peterborough, but that would be rather too late.

On FreeReg (http://www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/Search.pl) there is also a marriage of John Holland to Elizabeth Andrews at the same church, on July 23rd, 1835.

Take a look for yourself. Hopefully this will help you :)
