I have found my GGGG in 1851, but am unable to work out the place of birth.
Please can anyone help.
LYDIA DELL b1783 ? Middlesex living in Totteridge. (nee Honeybun)
She did not die until 1863, but I can not find her at all no matter how I search in 1861.
I would imagine she was still at the same address as the house was still in the family years after.
Any help would be much appreciated.

The best I can make of it is Middx. Colney Hatch, although I must admit the Colney is not very clear

Best wishes

Thanks so much Ann, it makes absolute sense, as they lived in Barnet and Totteridge.
I can now start looking for her christening.

Honeybun/bourne is a very common surname in Dorset. The Dorset online parish clerk has a few Lydia Honeybuns. A prominent landowner in Dorset (Williams at Bridehead) was a banker with a house in Middlesex and some of his Dorset tenants/staff moved to London. Might be worth a look?

If you'd like a "me too" :) , I think you are spot on.
It's just the initial curly loop of the 'C' interfering with the 'o' of Colney.

It is definitely Colney Hatch. :)

Theory re Lydia being unfindable on the 1861 census - there are quite a few pages missing from the census.
I did an address search on FMP for Totteridge Green in 1851 and in 1861.
1851 returned 80 schedule numbers. 1861 returned 4 schedule numbers.
1871 the address Totteridge Green brings up no results.

In 1851 there's a Sarah Baker aged 62 born Surrey HO107/1701 folio 296 page 12 living in Totteridge with an address of Totteridge Green.
In 1871 there's a Sarah Baker aged 82, born Surrey RG10/1332 folio 156 page 14 living in Totteridge.
But if you search for a Sarah Baker aged 72 born Surrey living in Totteridge in 1861 you get a big fat zero.

The 1861 census which has Totteridge Green as an address is RG9/788 folio 129 page 20. The page seems to end abruptly - but there are no more images to move forward. It also doesn't have 'End of parish of Nut Bush City' (or words to that effect :D) which you usually see at the end of an enumerator's 'walk'.
It is necessary to try this theory with people who were living nearer to Lydia in 1851, but if you find say, six families living in Totteridge in 1851 and 1871 but not in 1861 then I think my theory might unfortunately be proven.
