Hi,

I am trying to find as much as I can about my wife's Great Grandfather. He was a Thomas Jenkins who fought and died in the Boer war. He was a private with the Kings Shropshire Light Infantry and died in the Battle of Belfast on 8th Jan 1901. He is listed on the war memorial in Hereford Cathedral and I have found entries regarding him in the Hereford Times. What I would like to find is more information about his service with the KSLI but being only a Regular Soldier Private (Number 1414) I can only find him listed as a casualty and his decorations for war service. Any leads would be much appreciated.

Dear Ivor,

Have you seen this website:

http://www.regiments.org./regiments/uk/inf/053KSLI.htm#bh

This link will take you straight to the Kings Shropshire Light Infantry and gives all battles and their movements, along with a bibliography of histories written about the regiment.

You can search any regiment alphabetically if you return to the home page.

Hope this helps

Brenda
