According to my dad, his grandfather, Benjamin, came from Llanychaer, but on the 1901 census, his birthplace is given as Fishguard.
After a sailing disaster sometime in the 1860s, which wiped out most of the males in the Davies family (Benjamin was ill and didn't sail), Benjamin moved to Llanelli (Llanelly) where he married Elizabeth Griffiths in 1876.
Benjamin died in 1919 aged 64 and is buried at the Llanelli District Cemetery (known to some as the Box Cemetery). Elizabeth died in 1932 and is also buried there as is their daughter, Lilian Jane (9.11.1887-18.2.1952), my grandmother.
I am hoping to find a copy of Benjamin's birth certificate and any information about the Davies family in Llanychaer/Fishguard, particularly about the sailing disaster.
