I was browsing some Norfolk parish registers yesterday, became a bit bored because the surname I am researching appears to be non-existent (boohoo!), so decided to pay a bit more attention to marginal notes and unusual entries. These found in the parish registers of Ormesby St. Margaret With Scratby

*Burial - Jan 20 1858 - Samuel WORTLEY of Ormesby St. Margarets age 93
Marginal note "WORTLEY this name also occurs in the registers as WATLOW or WHATLOW incorrectly"

*Burial - Jan 6 1864 - Matilda HANSELL of Great Yarmouth
Marginal note "should have been registered as Matilda Hansell HORTH (or NORTH)"

*Burial in 1876 (oops! forgot to note the date!) Agnes Maria HARMAN, infant
Marginal note "the child baptised as Alice Maria"

There were also 3 drowned seamen... 2 of them "unknown" and the other "unknown with initials W.S. on linen". In each of the 3 entries "supposed to be one of the crew of the ship "Ontario" of South Shields wrecked Oct 23rd"
They were buried on different dates Nov.10, Nov 16(W.S.), Nov 30.
(I forgot to note the year |blush| , but it was before 1858)
