Wondered if anyone with a good knowledge of local geography - possibly around Cramlington - can help.
Ancestry has transcribed birthplace of Sarah Ann Haken b. c1869 as "North Soyrn". I have looked at the actual census record but I can't decipher it. Any guesses anyone?

Source information: RG10/5137
Registration district: Castle Ward
Sub-registration district: Ponteland
ED, institution, or vessel: 11
Folio: 61
Page: 2
Household schedule number: 9

Thanks
Vicky

Hi Vicky,
This is not very clear but it looks like 'North Tyne' is most likely. Not sure if there is a village or area known as that but as her father was a miner, there ia a colliery called North Tyne Colliery near Hexham. It is a fair distance from Fawden where they are in 1871 and Warkworth where Frank was born in 1867 though.
Jeremy.

Hi Jeremy
Thanks for that, I was thinking North Tyne as a possibility, but as an indication of the general area (ie somewhere just outside Newcastle) rather than the actual pit. You know how vague some of these census responses were!
Can't confirm area yet as so far I haven't located a likely birth (on-line indexes for this period not complete). Wonder why the LDS didn't get as far as Northumberland...
Cheers
Vicky
