The grandfather of a friend of mine died at a British Consulate office in Gdynia, Poland, in October 1958. To whom would she apply for a copy of his death certificate, please?

Thank you,

Peter Goodey

If you're saying that the death was registered with the British Consul, she should apply to GRO Overseas Unit. Although if he was Scottish, she might have to apply to GROS.

It should be listed on FMP under overseas (consular) deaths.

Thank you, Peter. He was English, and a Captain of one of the Baltic Line ships as far as we know. I will see if I can find it on FMP.

Update: I have found him and will pass on the registration details to my friend so that she can arrange for the certificate to be ordered. Thank you, again.
