I am happy to recommend a very useful tool for looking up marriages in Sussex in "The Sussex Marriage Index" prior to 1837. It is available from the Sussex Family History Society (http://www.parishchest.com/en-gb/dept_921.html).

Is the marriage index available for purchase? If so, where from and how much? It sounds like something useful to own.

Best wishes,
Lynda

Indeed it is readily available for online purchase at what I consider to be a very reasonable price. So please, let's respect the licence conditions!

If someone asks a question about some ancestors and someone else looks them up on a CD and answers with something along the lines of "I found these people in such&such which I purchased from some-group" then I'll not complain but I think it's time to call a halt to all posts of the form "I've bought such&such and will offer all and sundry free look-ups in it".

I have a copy, I'm a member of the SFHG, I want the SFHG to receive its due income from the sales of the CD and so be able to invest in other indexes and transcripts.

Yours, Malcolm, a.k.a. party-pooper, a.k.a. the board moderator.

PS Yes, I think it's time to draw the Census Lookups Offered 1841 - 1901 thread to a close unless Chris has compiled those indexes himself and/or obtained explicit permission for the lookup offer.
