Hello all,

I'm currently helping a friend with some research and we have discovered that some of her ancestors are Polish and some German. This isn't British research, the friend lives in Baltimore ,but I wondered if anyone knew of any good research sites for researching Polish and German ancestry. I've tried ships/passenger lists but as their names on the US census records have mostly been Americanized it's difficult.

Also does anyone know if it's possible to get marriage records /certs for folk married in Baltimore...I've looked but not found anything yet?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Linda..:)

Although not of specific help to your American friend, The Anglo-German FHS - agfhs.org.uk/ - may be able to make some suggestions

I used a search engine for 'Baltimore Vital Statistics'*

and came up with

http://
vsa.maryland.gov/html/faq.cfm

Have a look at paragraph 5.

*Do be careful with this if looking for records relating to a placename with more than one meaning - you may get some rather odd results not connected with history.

I wondered if anyone knew of any good research sites for researching Polish and German ancestry. You will find hundreds of links to FREE TO VIEW genealogical websites on this CD (http://www.parishchest.com/shop/index.php?cmd=viewproduct&cat=&id=P84652&pageOffset=0). :smile5:
