Looking for my Aunt's Family.

Nerina IERRSETICH b. 27 Aug, 1922 Trieste, Italy.

Married my mum's brother, John Walter Frederick Hayden, Circa 1954, Enfield, Middlesex. My Uncle 'Jack' (John) was born 08 Sep 1922, in Oxford, England

All the people who could have helped me, within my immediate family, are dead, or too old to remember.

Emigrated to Australia circa 1970's

Nerina d. 16 Aug 1999, Paradise Point, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia
Jack (John) d. 27 Jul 2008, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

This is all I have so any help would be appreciated.

You need to write to the Comune (municipality) of the city or town from which your ancestors came to obtain copies of civic family records; there are links on the AIFHS page below where you can find the addresses to write to. The Anglo-Italian FHS has links (http://www.anglo-italianfhs.org.uk/links/)to a range of sites giving help with research in Italy.

You can also find further useful links on Cyndi's List (http://www.cyndislist.com/italy.htm)

Thanks Colin

I have a problem that I am now not sure that the surname is correct, largely because I can find no record of the Marriage to my Uncle John (Aka 'Jack') Hayden circa 1954, Enfield, Middlesex.

March quarter, 1955, Edmonton District, volume 5e, page 1103

John F W Hayden - bride's name is recorded as " IERSETTICH or IERSETIC". Yes, both names are recorded as her surname. Maybe the original register was not clear when they came to index it.

If you are going to order the certificate, I would just use John's name... :o

Neither of the variants given by Jan features, so you'll need to think of some others. Alternatively, it's possible that the name doesn't feature in Italy today (I'm not sure of the source of the data for the map, and particularly the date it was compiled - it may say in the Introduzione (http://gens.labo.net/en/cognomi/intro.html)page, but I don't know any Italian!).
