Hi everyone

Emanuel Silva a Spanish seaman married and settled in wales in the 1800's. all we know is that he is from Bilboa. how do I trace him? can some kind soul help me please.

Find out all you can about him through conventional genealogical means in this country and only then start thinking about whether you want to pursue it further.

i am also trying to trace a spanish ancestor as yet i have not found him i know he was a seaman who married a liverpool gal and stayed in england i have tried to find info on spanish sailors/shipping but i am not sure where to look can yo shed any light on these points |help|

you don't mention a date, but on the offchance, try searching The National Archives (TNA) Catalogue and see if his naturlisation is indexed.
Word or phrase field - try just entering a surname
Year range - take a year when you know he was in the UK and enter +/- 50 years of that.
department of series code, just enter HO

If you get any results, you will probably be looking for those prefixed HO44 and HO145.
If any hits match, you can order a copy of the record from TNA
