My ancestor John Wylie was born abt 1818 at Malgrundour, Scotland. Can anyone please help me find this place? John later married Mary Porter (born abt 1822). They emigrated to Australia in 1839 on the Fairfield. They had 6 children. John died at Langhorne's Creek, South Australia on 21 Apr 1876. Mary died 21 Mar 1877.
I would welcome any info you can share with me about John and Mary and their families.

I am trying to say this place name over & over to see if anything familiar comes up but ???
I am wondering if it's the name of a small farm or croft.Any idea what area?
Try posting on TalkingScot. They are usually pretty good at finding out strange place names as well as other Scottish genealogy questions.

Thanks!
I think it must be perhaps a property name or something. Will try your suggestion.

Could it be Melgundy, Angus? Mains of Melgundy, west of Brechin, towards Forfar.

Have heard through Genes Reunited of a person looking for Maulgundor in Dumfriesshire. Much of our information about John Wylie is the same. Does this help anyone to find it for me?
