can anyone help with finding parents for Kitty Hawken. I have two on my tree, but am trying to firm up some info.

No1 Kitty Hawken born 1805 (I think) married John Old born 30 Jan 1798 on the 07 Aug 1823.

No2 Kitty Hawken born 1799, married John Owld born 26 Dec 1778 on the 07 Aug 1823.

Notice anything strange? I've got an error which I'm trying to correct, but what to delete? perhaps someone closer to the original records can put me straight. Ta Muchly.

P.S Hi Scottie, hope this finds you well.

Just wrote a long answer to this and it disappeared into the ether. There is an anomoly here as another researcher says she was Kitty Andrew on the children's birth certificates so it is possible she is the daughter of William Andrew and Elizabeth Trebilcock married 13 Nov 1794 in St Eval. Elizabeth nee Trebilcock died Nov 1812 and William then married Mary Hawken on 21 Jul 1818 in Padstow.

I think she is the one born 1805 in St Merryn to Thomas Hawken & Mary Trevethan. The 1799 one married John Bartle on 2 Dec 1819 in St Merryn.

The age in the censuses and on death makes her the Kitty I think she is. She died in 1862 aged 57 and she was 56 in the 1861 census which accords with being baptised in Sep 1805 as this one was. It would make her 18 on marriage whereas Kitty Andrew would be 15. Not impossible but very young for this area. Also the first child is Thomas Hawken Old and there are no children with Andrew as a middle name. I could be wrong of course. Has been known :D

Hi Mike,

Wasn't able to edit this earlier and it occurred to me you may not have seen my addition at 13.53 so I am posting this to say delete the Kitty born 1799 as she married Bartle. and take another look at my reasoning in the post below.

Dear Mike,
Ah I sorted it. Mary Trevethan who became Mary Hawken was widowed as was William Andrew and they got together and married 21 Jul 1818 in Padstow so Kitty Hawken's stepfather was William Andrew which proves that she is the correct Kitty for this marriage born 1805 in St Merryn. I love it when I find I am right in my "educated guesses"
