I Know They , John Lyon And Rebecca Davison Got Married In Qtr2 Of 1908 In South Shields.
As I Am Carrying This Research Out For A Friend I Do Not Want To Incur The Expense Of Buying The Afore Stated Certificate, If Anyone Could Help!!!!much Appreciated.

Hi Daryn
Sorry, but unless you know the name of the church where the marriage took place, then it is unlikely that anyone will be able to find the info you need. The GRO reference is of no use in finding the church. Your friend will probably have to buy the certificate. At only 7 a go, it is much cheaper than searching through church records. It could easily take an entire day to look through all the records for a registration district.

There are some marriage indexes for South Shields churches available on the GENUKI - Durham -South Shields site - a handy resource, although it doesn't give full coverage of the area - for instance, St Hilda's stops at 1901, and Holy Trinity isn't mentioned! It is just an index so no details of age, occupation or fathers' names.
