A.S.C. is for Army Service Corps
The number will be his service number.

Using the Documents online index, this appears to be Cyril G DAVIES, Private A.S.C.

Seaching the 1901 census index, I found five Cyril G DAVIES. They are aged
1, born Breck Beaufort, Monmouth
2, born Salford, Lancs
4, born Hereford
4, born Swansea, Glamorgan
15, born Carm, Carmathen

The "M2" prefix indicates his branch of service in the ASC - "mechanical transport".

Here's a link to his Medal Index Card which is downloadable for a fee...

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/details-result.asp?Edoc_Id=2252732&queryType=1&resultcount=5

Incidentally, this gives his number as M2-920034.
