Is there anyone out there who can help in tracing the details of the death of my Great Uncle Lewis Instone, who died in a swimming accident near Berlin in 1913.
Born 2 March 1885 Birmingham died 26 June 1913 ?ernsdorf, Berlin, Germany
Occupation, Jeweller. He was working with the court jeweller Emille Lettre in Berlin.

Although the records of his death in KEW say Ternsdorf, I understand that Ternsdorf does not exist, but that it could be Zernsdorf or Wernsdorf.
I am trying to lay my hands on a death certificate but to date have failed.
I have contacted the German authorities but have drawn a blank.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck with your search,

I too have not been able to break into my German roots. Looking at mapping, Zernsdorf looks like a place that a swimming accident could happen, as it's right on the Dahme, which is a river flowing through Berlin, but on the south east side of the city it is a lake.

I'm not suggesting you focus in that area, but it's where I would look first given two places to look.

Right on the button Mike.

I have traced the death certificate and you were spot on. Zernsdorf it was.

Thanks
