I am searching for the birth details of my wife's great-grandmother - Maria Bevan.

Maria emigrated to Australia aboard the "Zamora" leaving Plymouth on 1 April, 1882 and landing in Brisbane on 14 July, 1882.

She married George Trim, in Brisbane, on 13 November, 1882. They had three (3) sons including John Trim - my wife's grandfather.

I have a copy of John's birth certificate which shows Maria's home town as (I think) Brislington (?) but I can't decipher the shire or county.

Any help would be appreciated.

Brislington is part of Bristol.
Link to the Genuki site for the area, which should be able to give details of the locations of records etc

There is a Maria Bevan listed on the 1881 census aged 28 living as a servant at a house in Yatton, which is also in the Bristol area. This may be your Maria I expect.

Hope this is of some use :)

Thanks Mark. The imigration record in Brisbane says Maria was a "Free" immigrant. Her fare to Australia was paid by the Queensland government except for 1 because her trade or profession was needed in the colony at the time.
