View Full Version : A Servant for the Bishop of Lichfield

Can any one tell me if i can get more inforamtion & if so where for a Gt Aunt who was Amelia Barnes who was a Laundry Maid for the Bishop of Lichfield Augustus Legge on the 1901 census.
She was not working there on the 1891 & she married in 1910 from her home in Great Barton Suffolk where she also was born in 1877 any help would be appreciated

Could this be her in the 1891 census of Gt Barton:

Schedule 6, Durrants Cottages

James BARNES Head M 55 General Labourer Suffolk Market Weston
Harriett do Wife M 55 do Denham
Jesse do Son 15 General Labourer do Gt. Barton
Amelia Anne do Daur 13 do do

You can look her up on the 1881 census for yourself online at www.familysearch.org/. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply, Yes that her i have her on census before the 1901 then in Lichfield, I was wondering if anyone could help with finding out more about her or her time in service with the Bishop as she never married until 1910 so how long was she in service with the Bishop i wonder

Google up : The Bishop of Lichfield Augustus Legge, there are pages and pages about him, she may be mentioned somewhere.

Hi I saw that last night, i think most victorian photos make you laugh at the subject
