Hi Everyone.

Would it be possible for some kind person to point me in the right direction,
in an effort to find the parents of William Postins, born abt 1811. Kinfare,

William married Jane born abt 1811, and they had the following children,

William,born 1831, Mary,1834, George,1836, John,1839, and James in 1841.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards Tom.

Hi Tom

I think you will have to look in the parish records for that. I have had a quick look on the records available on Ancestry, but couldn't see anything. Alternative spellings might be POSTANCE, POSTANS, POSTONS.

Thanks for looking and for your advice.

You could also try the IGI.

On there, there is a William Postings Christening,13th May 1810, Kniver, Stafford. Father, William and Mother Sarah.
You do need to see the films to confirm the information that is on there. You can order the film from your local LDS centre for a couple of pounds.

What might also help you to track down the correct William is that in the 1851 census of Kinver (HO107/2017, folios 263/4, pages 15/16) there is, as well as his wife Jane, children George, John, James, Harriet (aged 7 born Wolverley, Worcester), Jane (aged 5 born Kinver), Alice (aged 1 born Kidderminster), a brother John POSTINS aged 36, unmarried, Labourer, born Wolverley, Worcester. According to an extracted IGI record a John POSTINS was baptised 19 February 1815 at Wolverley, father William mother Mary.

There is on the 1841 census of Wolverley (HO107/1203/6, folio 21, page 11) a William POSTINS, aged 55, Ag Lab, born in county, his wife Mary, aged 50, born in county, son Thomas, aged 15, Ag Lab, born in county and daughter Eliza, aged 12, born in county. Food for thought???

Thank you Jo and thank you Janet.

For all your help, it's much appreciated, I will use the information you've
given and endevour to see if I can get to look at the parish records as I
think that has to be my next step.

Best Regards to you both.
