Does anyone know the whereabouts of the children of Thomas Bottoms (1804-1857) and Mary (nee Johnson). They were married at Kelloe 1834 and had at least 8 children:
Thomas 1838 (emigrated to the USA)
Henry 1839-1845
Sarah 1841-?
Henrietta 1845-?
Esther Jane 1845-?
Margaret 1845-1846
Robert 1847-1937 (my gg grandfather)
Henry 1849-?
James 1852-?

Or any of Thomas' ancesters believed to come from Middleton-in-Teesdale area.

Hi Judith

Some children are absent in 1851 - I suggest you search the GRO Index for their deaths.

Hi Helen

Thanks for the Census info. I already have copies of them from Kew and know about the male children - but what happened to all the girls? I've been unable to find them in the GRO indexes. Thomas & Barbara emigrated to Pensylvania, USA and had a large family out there (I'm still in touch with some of them). Robert (my gg grandfather) became a Weslyan Methodist Minister at New Branspeth.
