    Default SAUNT/Sauntson

    Hello,

My great x3 grandmother was Eliza Saunt, born in King's Cliffe in 1848. She ended up living in the Holbeach area of Lincolnshire, married to John Walker (born 1842 at Gedney) and had three children: Frank, Fred and Rose.

Eliza was the third of ten children of John SAUNT (1821-1898) and his wife Martha (nee Palmer) (1826-1892). The others were:

    1. Mary Ann b1840
    2. Harriett b1843 d1929
    4. John Thomas b1850 d1902
    5. Julia b1852
    6. Catherine (know as Kate) b1855
    7. William b1858
    8. Elizabeth b1861
    9. Ellen b1862
    10. Sara Jane b1868

John was the son of Thomas and Ann Saunt.

John Thomas Saunt (b1850) seems to have adopted the surname Sauntson, which also appears as Saunston.

Anybody researching these names in Kings Cliffe of Glapthorn areas?

I am going to visit Kings Cliffe this weekend for the first time to see what the village is like. From images online it looks liek an 'idyllic' English country village. I wonder what it was like for my stone breaker ancestors!?

    Default SAUNT/Sauntson

Eliza Saunt's father is my Great (x2) grandfather.
Her brother John Thomas Sauntson is my Great Grandfather.
John's father, Thomas was born in a village called Luddington in 1786, but I am still looking for further information.

    Any information would be appreciated.
