Over a period of time I have been compiling a list of names of people from outside the area who were buried in St Mary's graveyard. It is not a comprehensive list of stays. All the people listed were patients at Prestwich Lunatic Asylum. In the actual PRs it lists Joe BLOGGS,formerly of Wapping,Prestwich Asylum, Buried Feb 1st 1868,AGE 68.I will miss out the formerly bit and the word age.I will add to this list as and when...possibly someone may find a missing soul.I will included people who were born outside of Lancashire

This one is not a stray. The vicar made a footnote at the bottom of the page of the register which, with my warped mind, think is most unusual and interesting.

It would be interesting to look this one up in the 1871 census to see what his occupation was - maybe he worked for a circus - kindof like a fire-eater but eating nails instead!

Maybe...but it was a lunatic asylum .I have had a quick look on the 1861 & 1871 and could not find him. When I get some time I'll check 1861 & 1871 films for the hospital to see if he is there as plain old "JD".

Sorry - I was thinking that perhaps he was not sent to the asylum until he started eating nails (assuming that the 3 years was about correct)
