This weekend I am going to look into ordering some certs. All the infor you have found has been amazing. Lavinia is an unusual name which I guess helps, where as my grandfather George will be a bit trickier. I know his mother was Amanda so at least I have something to work on. I am very interested in my grandfathers army history, so I am going to dig further there. Thanks again Peter, you are a true legend.

If you have a subscription to one of the family history sites, or your local library has a subscription to Ancestry, then if you search for George A Holden born 1902, mother Amanda you will find them in Nuneaton along with Amanda's husband, Joseph and George's siblings. In April 1898 Joseph Holden married a Severina Amanda Baxter in Rosliston, (where Joseph and George were born). Rosliston was part of the Burton upon Trent Registration District.
