Default W J HEAD 5th Battalion Wilts Reg - full name?

W J HEAD, 5th Battalion (Service) Wiltshire Regiment was mentioned in despatches during WW1. I believe he was also awarded the DCM. Does anyone have any idea how I can find out his full name please? We have lots of William Josephs in our family tree and I would like to find out if he is one of us!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the British- Genealogy forums.
Using the second service number for the entry Robert found there is this in the Service and Award records on ancestry. So a middle name James not Joseph.

    This site might help....

    https://www.
    the wardrobe.org.uk/research/contact-us/support-us/the-collection/search/category:7/q:Wiltshire/name:Head

The page shows the 4 medals he was awarded, but if you were to look on the right hand side, you will notice
Research Enquiries ....click on the box which says 'support us'........this will take you to another page with a search form to fill in requesting help on a particular individual which can then be submitted online. No harm trying!

Aargh! Just seen christina's post...so maybe not your man after all!!
