    Default James William STEAD b c1882 Yorkshire - WW1

Enlisted as SCOTT and so is filed under that name in the WW1 Service Records (WO 363):

(Birth records show George & Stanley with a second name, initial S. When the soldier declared his children, he gave the eldest, Jane, a second name - Scott, but this does not appear in the BMD record)

Enlisted September 1914, declaring age 32y 155d, born BATLEY, a Quarryman, previous service in the KOYLI (time expired). Discharged July 1915 - "no longer physically fit. Gun shot wound back."

When in February 1915 he declared his true name, he declared James William Scott STEAD - Birth records show only James William. His Marriage record shows James William S.
