Hello!
I recently discovered that my 5x great grandfather, William Lewis, served with the Royal Pembroke Regiment of Militia from 1796 to 1835. He was discharged on two occasions: once in 1831 and again in 1835.
I would like to find out what the Royal Pembroke Regiment of Militia did and their movements during this period which will hopefully give me some idea of what my ancestor did. Can anyone tell me about them or point me in the right direction to find out more?
Kind regards,
Eloise

I assume this is the Royal Pembroke Artillery Militia. I assume you've already found his WO96 record online on Findmypast.
Have a look at the National Archives catalogue searching for Royal Pembroke (say) confining your search to series WO 68 -

I think there might be something interesting in there - why not pop along to the National Archives, get a readers ticket and have a read!

Use search key "royal pembroke militia" (including " ") in Find an Article and use date slider bars to restrict period. Several items which may be of background interest.
ps - also omit "royal" from the search key to increase "hits""dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"

First, and (apologies) belatedly, a very warm welcome to Brit-gen.

Click on link and tab down to entry for "Royal Pembroke Militia". Only a snippet but plenty of change going on while Sergeant Lewis was serving.
I've been trying to find an example of a uniform - but proving very elusive!"dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"
