    Default Mentioned in Despatches

    I signed up to this site in the hope of finding out WHY my dad had been MiD'd in WW2.

    Can anyone tell me where I can get that information please?

    Hi

    MID's are listed in the London Gazette, but not what for.
    Usually there was a citation handed out with it. His service record may mention why, but if not try local newspapers.
    There is no other record kept of it.
    I presume he was in the RAF, you could also look here for other information - https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/r...eports-ww2.htm and https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/r...cord-books.htm , once you have his service records and you know which squadron and when.
