    Default Bull Ring, Etaples

If you check out The Long Long Trail, https://www.1914_1918.net and navigate to Training > Officer Training, you will find this link to a thread on the Great War Forum: https://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/fo...howtopic=85342.

From that I learn that there were base training camps for officers at Roeun, Harfleur, Le Havre, and Etaples. The camp at Etaples was known as the Bull Ring and was notorious for the severity of its discipline, and there was a mutiny/massacre there.

Perhaps Captain Jude was at this camp during his missing months??? Instead of espionage, might it have been an issue of discipline???

Yes, this could be a can of worms...sorry I can't help further.

Awesome - thank you. I will look into that.
Do you know if there would have been any records at these places??

I will contact the Army Museum and IWM to see if they exist - fingers crossed!

Yes, his life is proving to be a can of worms - but I do love a challenge
