South Staffs 1st Battalion - Burma campaign

Hi can anyone shed any light on the above? My father,William Thomas Ward was a corporal in this regiment and was posted to Burma c.1944.

I cannot trace his war records in FWR,am I looking in the right place or are they not yet released,my father died in 1981.

Any assistance would be most grateful

You are quite right, WW11 service records are still held by the MOD. This 'sticky' explains all and gives links to the sites and forms you will need to apply. You will also need a big dose of patience as so many others are on the same quest as you.
