Any ideas as to any info re Windjammers in the 1880's?? My Great Grandfather was born in Lambeth in 1863 and settled in Swansea 1882. Apparently he unloaded iron ore to the Copper Works in Swansea in the 1870/80's and his nickname was 'Windjammer'. One of his children was named Carmalita and we were wondering if this may have been the name of one of his ships or did he bring the name back from maybe Chile or Spain on his travels. I am trying to find out any info on ships that sailed from London around this time, possibly a windjammer sailing ship?? I have tried the Swansea Mariner site but have had no luck in tracing my ggf or a ship by this name. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Bebe Jax.

I put "Carmelita" (as I'd expect it to be spelled, rather than Carmalita) into the Cambrian Index Online https://www2.swansea.gov.uk/_info/cambrian/default.asp and there are a dozen mentions of a ship of that name.
