good afternoon, my name is Geraldine Gaskell but I was born in 1947 Geraldine Fay Kirkwood-Hackett, my Father originally from Dublin had been in the RAF he was awarded the usual medals plus the Air crew Europe, and the Burma Star and also the DFC, my parents split when I was 3 and Dad returned to Dublin, my mother died in June 1980 and Dad died in December 1982, in 1985 my Stepmother Irene made contact, when Dad died he left instructions that all his medals were mine, but I couldn't get across to Dublin and in February 1989 Irene died.
there are two problems all the medals have gone since Irene died someone sold them, that is one and the other is trying to find out what my Father did to be awarded the DFC? he was in the 97 Squadron, if there is anyone there that can help me that would be brilliant, thanks

The report may be in here - https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/r...eports-ww2.htm
or https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/r...cord-books.htm
I cant see him in this list - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor...United_Kingdom)
but they do not say it is a full list.
More details may help?
